Dear Administrator/Test Coordinator:
We are writing to respectfully inform you that our child, <child's name>, under our guardianship and advice, will be refusing to take the PARCC assessments this year.
Our child will specifically be considered as a “refusal”, not “absent”, and therefore will continue to receive a free and appropriate public education in his regular school environment during the administration of all regular and makeup test periods, as this letter provides written verification of a “refusal” for all PARCC tests.
We ask that the school please provide an alternative activity for our child during administrative sessions of testing (except for makeup tests, as our child will be in his regular classroom environment during makeup tests). If the school refuses or is unable to provide alternative and relevant instructional activities, all absences that are caused by the school's suggestion will be "excused." Please note that my child will not be forced to "sit and stare" during the PARCC administration, as this practice violates the provisions in the PARCC Test Coordinator Manual.
Thank you very much for your understanding and respect towards our decision. We look forward to a great school year.
Sincerely,
<parent's name(s)>

cc: District Testing Coordinator
